We are seeking a Java Developer for "Reuters Media Development / London branch” (http://www.reuters.com/) project The successful candidate will be a part of our agile team developing large scaleable media distribution systems for delivering Reuters news text, pictures, graphics, and videos within secured subscribers network. You will work with professionals to develop solutions which distribute content globally. Reuters content is viewed by over a billion people a day. This position requires working with distribution complex based on Java server-side and stand-alone applications and C++/STL/MFC (desirable). Responsibilities: Develop, support, enhance and upgrade Reuter’s media software using largely Java, Tomcat, Apache, SQL and surrounding technologies Work closely with the development and business teams in UK, NY, Europe and Asia Requirements: The candidate must have a computer science background, and strong Java development skills. They must be able to work with minimal supervision, demonstrate the ability to learn and apply new technologies, and be able to work successfully in a team environment. Computer Science or Engineering degree Minimum 3 years experience in web development Strong Java/J2EE Skills Multi threaded programming experience Database experience with one or more of the following: My SQL, SQL Server, Oracle. Apache/Tomcat HTTP, XML, XSL Version control using a system such as CVS, Sub-Version or VSS. Good English, both spoken and written Ability to work as part of a team.
